Geotechnical surveys of hydrotechnical facilities

After our accession to the European Union, the water sector in Bulgaria began to acquire a more modern look. Our team has carried out a number of studies on dam walls, drinking and waste water treatment plants, water mains, sewers and reservoirs.

Geotechnical survey of Neykovtsi dam with height of 58 meters

No doubt, this is one of the most significant projects in the field of hydrotechnical construction in recent years in Bulgaria. A large number of exploration works have been carried out at the site, including double barrel rock drilling, Lugeon permeability tests, structural geological mapping, micro seismic surveys, in-situ bulk density and many others. The demands on the quality of the study by the Swiss designers were extremely high.

Drill cores from the terrain beneath Neykovtsi rockfill dam

Our team made the geotechnical survey of the dam wall, spillway, water intake tower, aggregate quarry, water mains and potable water treatment plant. Our successful collaboration with the design team of Stucky Switzerland brought the site to project readiness and approval by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works. A construction tender is pending.

Emergency drilling and geophysical surveys of the Bozorovets dam wall

As is well known, several thousand micro dams have been built in Bulgaria. Unfortunately, a significant part of them are neglected and in a pre-emergency state, which makes them dangerous for the population.

The study of the wall of the Bozorovets dam gave the designers valuable information about the strength-deformation and filtration properties of the body of the wall, based of which they made a project for rehabilitation of the dangerous facility.

Geological survey for the construction of a reservoir for water supply in the Simeonovo quarter of the city of Sofia

The terrain for this reservoir is located in an extremely difficult to access mountain area. The geological structure within the Vitosha proluvial cone is very diverse and changes significantly over short distances. However, we have successfully conducted drilling, geophysical and filtration exploration work. The designers received important information about the geological structure in the various parts of the future excavation.
